Born in Tehran and raised in England where she was a graduate of the London School of Economics, University Of London, Ms. Safavi started her film career at Interscope Communications, where she worked on several of their motion pictures. This led to her working with writer Wesley Strick on several films which included The Saint and Return to Paradise. She then moved to Sydney Pollack's Mirage Enterprises where she worked with Producer William Horberg on the development of such films as Sliding Doors and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
In 1998, Safavi served as Vice President of Development for independent production company Kingman Films, where she was instrumental in assembling the company's slate of films. In 2000, Safavi joined Paramount Pictures-based company Lynda Obst Productions (The Fisher King, Sleepless in Seattle) as Vice President of Development, before heading to large-format film company, Iwerks Entertainment where she headed content development and acquisitions.
Currently, Ms. Safavi is the vice-president of development at producer Sid Ganis' company, Out Of The Blue Entertainment (Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds) at Sony Pictures Entertainment in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Safavi currently resides in Los Angeles.
